PEE-EW… What Stinks?

Occasionally Fido gets into mischief over his head, say for instance checking out a cute black and white striped animal.  This smell will last for DAYS and tends to stick to anything it touches.

The old wive’s tales of tomato juice just leave your pooch colored red and the stench remains and masking the odor is doing just that so perfumes and Febreeze make your companion smell like a skunk in a field of flowers.

The stuff you purchase at the store can be a bit pricey, you may already have all the ingredients needed to make your own skunk stink remover.

  • 1 quart hydrogen peroxide
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon liquid soap (like dawn)

Mix the above together and use immediately.
Work mixture into the fur all the way to the skin.
Allow to sit for 5 minutes and rinse with fresh water afterwards.
May need to repeat if any residual smell still lingers.

Discard any left over mixture.

If your dog has been sprayed in the eyes, flush with clean water immediately and consult a veterinarian.
